“Christmasquerade”

As the yuletide season was just starting to creep in, the Association of Philippine Orthodontists jump started the merry making by holding its Christmas charity ball entitled “Masquerade; An Unforgettable Night of Fantasy, Decadence and Magic” last November 28, 2009 at the poolside of the Paseo Parkview Suites in Makati City.

Gracing the evening were APO members and students of the UP Post Graduate Program in Orthodontics who all added to the enchantment of the evening by wearing their colorful and creative masks. Adding a fabulous touch to the evening were the Raging Divas who, with their colorful and energetic performance, added hilarity to the event as they displayed their vocal gymnastics,  entertaining albeit risqué moves as well as their roasting of some gentlemen members, including our dear president himself Dr. Jose Manuel Rivera. Also, the creativity exhibited by those present did not go unnoticed as awards were given, with best mask going to Dr. Ria Gener for her ortho-inspired mask made out of recycled brackets, while best costume went to the king of Dr. Bernadette Go-Lim, her son Darren Lim, for sporting his glitzy Elvis costume.

The merriment of the evening however was not solely for the enjoyment of the members, as proceeds of the event would benefit the St. Mary’s House, a mission house located in Brgy. San Jose, Tagaytay dedicated to sexually exploited, abused, unwed mothers and drug dependent girls under the care of the Oblate Sisters of the Holy Redeemer (OSR). This event coincided with one of the commitments of APO of giving back to society and sharing its blessings especially in this time of year. This is how APO jump starts the yuletide season.
