The 2017-18 APO Board held its first meeting on Wednesday January 11, 2017 under the Presidency of Dr. Martin Reyes whose first report included the guidance from the Philippine Dental Association on the November 28, 2016 Memorandum Circular No. 2016-170 (Exemption of Medical & Dental Clinics from Mayor’s Permit or Business Permit Requirements) that was approved by the Secretary of the Department of Interior and Interior and Local Government, Sec. Ismael D. Sueno where professionals, including Dentists, are now officially exempted in the payment of Mayor’s Permit or Business Permit Requirement.
His report included details of Continuing Professional Education points that will be required for PRC renewal with the Final Continuing Professional Development Guidelines to be finalized January 2017. He reported on his December 12, 2016 meeting with PRC Board of Dentistry Chairperson Dr. Rainnier Reyes and the different recognized specialty societies and specialty boards and World Federation of Orthodontists matters.
The APO Committee reports were then followed by the Asian-Pacific Orthodontic Congress APOC 2018 Organizing Committee’s Meeting under Congress Chair Dr. Jose Manuel Rivera and Co-Chair Dr. Roberto Tan. Strategic planning and time table is being finalized with the report of the excited immediate acceptance of invitations extended to 16 international speakers from 10 countries will highlight this March 5-7, 2018 event.
