From “The President’s Report” by Dr. Jose Manuel R. Rivera

A total of 107 delegates headed to Boracay last March 5 & 6, 2009 for some “Sun, Sand and Smiles”. We were a mix of APO members (56), Non-APO / Student Members (21) from the different universities (CEU, MCU & UE), APOS delegates (22) and foreign guests (8).

It was a successful fun-filled 2-day event which featured a “white” welcome dinner for the foreign delegates on March 4, a whole day lecture by Dr. Derek Mahony on March 5 followed by an evening luau complete with leis, live band & fire dancers, and finally a half day lecture by Dr. Loh Kai Woh on March 6 followed by an exciting adventure race in the afternoon. APO also proudly hosted the Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society (APOS) executive committee meeting which was attended by the orthodontic heads of the 15 member countries in the Asia Pacific Region.

The hundreds of photos you will see is a testament to the spirit of camaraderie that was forged between the delegates. An event which brought together different kinds of people of different cultures and backgrounds from all over the Asia Pacific Region. We all left Boracay not only with fond memories but also with new forged friendships. Click here to view the pictures on shutterfly.com.

Thank you to all the delegates who came to Boracay, to the APO Board & the Congress Organizing Committee for a job well done and also to our APO members who worked even without recognition – our silent heroes. The success of an organization is directly related to the quality of its members and APO has reason to be proud!
