“Heading for the Best through Enhanced Leadership Dynamism in the field of Dentistry”: A PDA Presidents-elect Leadership Training Seminar

by: Dr. Diana Dorothy Lim

The PDA held its customary Presidents-elect Leadership Training Seminar last November 13 -14, 2013 at the Heritage Hotel in Pasay City. PDA President-elect Dr. Corazon Flores welcomed the new batch of incoming presidents of all the dental chapters and specialty affiliates, radiantly beaming with optimism and encouragement. Our first guest speaker was Ms. Jewel May Lobaton-Pimentel who gave a talk on the “Art of Effective Communication”.

It was a lecture with an interactive workshop which made learning fun and effectively got us to know each other since most of the attendees were meeting each other for the first time. Dr. Aguiluz gave an informative lecture on “Antiseptics in Dentistry”. This was followed by a talk in the afternoon by Ms. Bryce Fabro on “S.M.I.L.E.” which focused on how self knowledge an self enhancement can help transform one into a great leader. Fellowship night followed with much participation from the delegates grouped into 4 dance teams. It fostered a warm and strong camaraderie among the presidents- elect as well as the PDA officers present. Some highlights of the event were the presentation of plans for the upcoming May PDA convention, the clarification of Dr. Flor Enriquez on the Exemption of Dentists from applying for Business Permits and Continuing Dental Education concerns by PDA CDE Chair Dr. Malou Coronacion. We are all looking forward to another information-packed and fun-filled Part II on May 8 of this series of training programs for PDA’s future leaders.
