APO Roster of Members

The APO member is a licensed dentist who has undergone advanced postgraduate university-based training in the specialty of orthodontics and/or has passed the different Phases of the Certifying Examinations of the Philippine Board of Orthodontics (PBO). The PBO is the only Accrediting Body for Orthodontic Specialists recognized by World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO) and the PRC Board of Dentistry, to accredit orthodontic specialists in the Philippines.

DIPLOMATE – A member who has completed a formal orthodontic graduate program from PBO accredited schools and/or institutions, a FELLOW who has passed the Phase IV of the PBO and has been certified by the PBO to meet the standards of academic knowledge and clinical proficiency in the field of orthodontics.

FELLOW – A member who has completed a formal orthodontic graduate program from PBO accredited schools and/or institutions, has been an ACTIVE Member for at least two consecutive years shall be elevated to Fellow upon fulfilling a set of criteria promulgated by the Association. Fellows are in exclusive practice of orthodontics and are eligible for membership in the World Federation of Orthodontists.

ACTIVE MEMBER – A member who has completed a formal orthodontic graduate program from PBO accredited schools and/or institutions, an Associate Member who has passed the Phase III of the PBO and who is in exclusive practice of orthodontics.

AFFILIATE MEMBER – A member who has completed a formal orthodontic graduate program from PBO accredited schools and/or institutions, an Associate Member who has passed the Phase III of the PBO and who is not in the exclusive practice of orthodontics.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER – A member who has passed the Phases I and/or II of the certification examinations of the PBO. The Associate membership is a transitory category premised on the stipulation that the Associate member shall upgrade themselves by passing the Part III of the certification examination of the PBO in the terms set by the PBO.

INTERNATIONAL MEMBER – An orthodontist certified by their national orthodontic association who is not practicing in the Philippines may be admitted as a member of this Association or a Fellow, Active, Affiliate, or Associate member who was in good standing of the APO and now currently resides abroad, may be considered an International member upon paying their yearly dues.
