Last November 30, 2016, APO held it's annual outreach program benefitting the children of the Noordoff Craniofacial Foundation Philippines, Inc (NCFPI) at the Museo Pambata, Roxas Boulevard, Manila. These children all received their new smiles from Smile Train which is the world's largest cleft charity. They have done 1.5 million surgeries worldwide since 1999. Their global aim is to provide comprehensive cleft care to patients in need, and by partnering with hospitals and organizations like Noordoff, they provide free cleft lip and palate surgeries, speech therapy, and orthodontic and dental service for the cleft patients. APO is one of these partner organizations of the NCFPI, providing free Orthodontic services, volunteers and materials for the children.
Together with representatives from the Noordoff Craniofacial Foundation, APO members and orthodontic residents from the University of the Philippines joined the said event. It was such a memorable day! Seeing a child smile even with the simplest of gifts warmed our hearts. Everybody definitely felt the Christmas spirit!
